Kukup 龟咯

A small fishing village, well-known for its seafood and houses built on stilts. Located in the district of Pontian, Johor, Malaysia. The trip will take about 2 to 3 hours car drive to Kukup, it will be faster if you are familiar with the roads.

How to get there?
From Singapore Tuas Checkpoint and after Malaysia Checkpoint
  • Drive straight and filter left towards the "Kawasan Rehat Gelang Patah" to pump petrol
  • Otherwise, drive straight towards Exit 307 to exit towards Pontian
  • Keep left and drive towards Pontian
  • Continue to drive straight and you will reach a T-junction
  • Turn right at the T-junction towards Pontian/Setia Eco Gardens and drive straight
  • Turn left after you see the blue signage "Setia Eco Gardens" (where the black car turns left) and drive straight
  • Quite a long stretch of road before you come to the signage to turn left towards Pontian Kechil / Pekan Nanas 
  • Drive straight and you'll pass by Pekan Nanas
  • Turn left when you see the signage "Kukup" and drive straight and you'll reach the place (30 mins drive after the turn)

  • Book the Kukup Resort and stay 2 days 1 night (Check out the List of Kukup Resorts)
  • BBQ, Fireworks, Karaoke, Fishing, Kong Ming Lantern, Mahjong, Cycling, Foot Massage
  • Check out a good place to view Sunset
  • Visit Kelong (Fish farm)
  • Visit "Tanjung Piai
  • Visit "Pulau Kukup" (龟咯岛)
  • Check out the "Kukup Pasar Malam" on Thursdays
  • Hunt for some durians
Budget
Bring about RM200 should be sufficient. Otherwise, there's Money Changer at the Kukup.
